HOLDEN

It’s been a year since I last stepped into my spacecraft. Even though I sometimes pined for my home planet, I had been very busy as King of Aeolus aliens on Earth.

Nevertheless, my servants made sure to maintain every inch of it. The white and chrome interior was spick and span and boasted of the latest technology in spaceships. I could actually head back to my planet from time to time, but there was no one to go home to. Despite my homesickness at times, it was easier for me to stay here and focus on my reign and my duty.

A few days ago, I had gotten a notice from the Dinus Clan, a family of dragon shifters based in Aeolus. Their leader Romus and their elders wanted to have a meeting with me. I had a good feeling about what it was going to be centered around.

The meeting room inside my ship was brightly lit with just a single couch in the center. I sat there and crossed my legs. It was time.

“I’m here, Romus,” I said out loud. My voice activated the steel platform in front of me, causing the lights all around it to blink alternately. When it stopped, all the lights turned red, and a hologram appeared on top of the platform. It was that of Romus. He was clad in an alien warrior uniform and had their insignia stitched to the fabric on his shoulder.

“Good day, Holden,” he greeted, facing me.

The other platforms came to life as well. Three old men appeared, wearing white robes. They had long beards and gray eyes.

“Good day, Romus,” I said. “Good day to all of you.”

“These are our elders,” Romus said, then proceeded to introduce each one by name.

“It’s good to meet you,” I said politely. “Tell me. To what do I owe the pleasure of this meeting? How may I help you?”

“It has come to our attention that you have a member of The Society captive,” Romus said without beating around the bush. His eyes narrowed and a serious crease came to his forehead. “Raya Johnson.”

They know her name, I thought in alarm. That’s not good.

They were waiting for me to answer so I slowly nodded. I couldn’t very well lie especially if they knew her name.

“You must squeeze out information from her,” they said. “Perhaps you can use her to find out where we can find the other members of The Society.”

I actually felt relieved to know that they had that in mind. Thus, I would have good reason to keep her alive.

“Of course,” I said smoothly. “She already trusts me. I can get that information. But it would be good if you do not come to Earth just yet. What do you intend to do?”

Romus spoke up. “We want to destroy The Society, of course. It should cease to exist so that we will not have any more problems in coming to the Earth and staying if necessary.”

“What is your purpose in coming here?” I inquired.

“We want to put up a vacation resort for aliens,” he explained.
